It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new.
But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful.
There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.

Monday

I   remember when I used to dislike Mondays.
Children had to go to school, husband went to work, mundane stuff was waiting .. There were some Mondays when I did enjoy having the house to myself, getting errands run and groceries bought and whatever else needed to be done.
Lunch with a friend, shopping or just being home alone and enjoying that.
Mondays aren't that special for us anymore.
Every day is Saturday you might say .. or at least, no one is getting up and going to work or sending the children off to school.
Which is lovely and yet, there are times I miss those days .

Living in a large city where tourists visit, you get into certain habits.
I don't enjoy going out on Friday or Saturday nights.
Sundays are a great day for being as lazy as I know how to be. Pup and my husband are both fairly good at it too.
Monday means we can get back to doing things that we enjoy, while everyone else is at work or school.
It works for us ~

Today was another bright day, pure sunshine, blue blue skies and around 60ºF.
After Pup got his morning walk , we decided to go to Kels Book Store.  We are becoming their best customers! The walk there is approximately 20 blocks or so. We did it. Then we walked home and grabbed the Pup and went to the Park where I sat on a bench like a lump in the sun and refused to move.

Pup did a little moving but not that much either .. is laziness contagious ? Dogs can catch it ? or did I get it from him ?
Hmmm, he is lying on the floor next to me ... am I breathing in Lazy germs?
Good grief ! I never considered this ! No wonder !
This is the little house that refused to sell, no , you can build high rises all around me but I am staying here. And so they did. Downstairs is the restaurant, upstairs is home.
My big brown poodle trumps your small quartet.
Walking home from the book store, we passed our old Village Cinema.
When we moved here, we discovered the Village Cinema , where we could see a movie in one of 10 cinemas, go to a beautiful book store, eat in one of about a dozen restaurants and all in walking distance. Many a cold winter day or a steamy summer day, was spent in big, red velvet, plush seats in huge, fantastic theaters watching movies.
Then one day the lady that worked there told us that they were going to be "doing some work " .. next thing we knew, they not only closed the entire place, but the restaurants all had to move and we had no cinema close by. This is the way it looks now ......
This is what they say it will look like some day.. I have no idea when they will ever finish.
Now  we usually  go to the cinema at Patio Bullrich , home of Tiffany's and so many wonderful shops and a bookstore and restaurants.. so it isn't exactly punishment.
We decided to pick up some fresh fish for dinner
Me ! me!     Pick me ! Pick me !!

We picked out a nice piece of salmon and I roasted it tonight slathered with Hoisin Sauce and served it with fried rice. Yes, I cook too !
Then to the park with Pup who was low energy today.. or his nose was stuck.
So went the day. I like this tree. I have no idea what it is but the light made it perfect.

Monday Morning - Look At This Blog !

 My French Country Home

In all my typical obsessive bloggerness, I have been burying myself in everything and anything French.
I have been all over the Home Decor and Design blogs, I study them as if there were to be finals at the end of the month. I am sure my husband has perfected the trick of blocking out anymore of my chatter about Toile, pillows and various other little tidbits that I feel he needs to hear about, concerning my studies on French home decor and how it will ultimately end up in our Argentine home.

My French Country Home transports me to  a warm climate too, this is very nice. I am actually tired of cold weather. Winter is too long, no matter where you live. I think there should be longer Autumns  and Springs and keep summer and winter to a minimum. This way we never end up suffering through yet another Heat Wave with mosquito invasions or Brutal winter with a red nose and frozen toes. Not to mention, becoming sick to death of the sight of the same coats , gloves and sweaters.... and living at the Bottom of the World doesn't make it any easier ! While I am sitting here freezing , bundled in unattractive bulky clothing and furry slippers with the heat blasting, the dog huddled under a blanket on the bed.. I am reading about everyone else going to the Beach, to Paris or London or Italy and none of these places is cold !

So for any of the above reasons, you are interested in immersing yourself in Frenchness and Pretty Things, look at My French Country Home..
Here is a photo from her blog .. you can see what I mean ..

A Properly Lazy Sunday

We are back to Winter as usual... sunny bright days, on weekends the parks are full, the feria is busy and the cafes are bustling.
We took a late afternoon walk .. through the parks
past the statue of the man .. who is thinking ? has a problem ?
a headache?
or is he wondering about the woman next to him,
who seems to have some sort of relationship with a swan.
Then on through the parks , strolling, talking, watching Pup sniffing and strolling. If you ever watch him, he looks so intent on the ground, all the sniffing to be done but you can also see, he has one eye on us at all times. Back towards home, past the little bitty Fiat ..
Too bad Pup can't drive, he would fit perfectly.
Down the tiny street where the equally tiny but  excellent cafe  Florencio, is tucked in, between houses.. this is the street
this is one of the prettier houses on it
And then home to warm up
and have a gallon of tea and read and relax and be properly lazy, because it is Sunday.

Saturday Walks .. by Pup

Today Mom and Dad were supposed to go to the Flea Market.
Why they need to go to a market for fleas, is a mystery but what do I know, I am just a Pup.
It is cold and Mom said she did not want to go freeze while looking at junk, so they said they would take me and go for a walk. .  and take some pictures.
This made me happy and  I don't have fleas.
Mom likes to take a million pictures of me.
Today she took a million pictures of buildings.
I don't understand why, I was right there and there were no dogs in those buildings , that I could see.
We walked through the parks that I like to play in.
Mom and Dad talked and let me sniff everything... well, almost everything.
Mom got tired of me smelling that wet spot . Mom's just don't understand.
Mom and Dad both liked this statue. It was too high for me to sniff.
Mom took pictures of this place. It is the Korean Embassy. She wondered if they would come get her for standing out front and taking pictures, so she took this one and we ran.
I like it when Mom runs.
Mom is fun.
I like the doormen who talk to me and pet me when we take walks.
Mom even took pictures of old cars. She said she could not believe this one would still go. I miss our car.
I rode in the back seat and stuck my head out the window.
Mom wishes we still had our car too. She said we would all go to the countryside and see the horses and cows. I don't know about the cows but I love horses. They like me too.I wonder if cows like me...
Mom kept talking about the houses,  she likes them, she likes everything!
She really liked this building, she said there was something about the Terrace that called to her.

I didn't hear anything.

We walked to a nice place called the Evita Museum Cafe.
Mom wanted coffee, Dad had wine and they ate something called a Keesh.
Mom even took a picture of the Keesh.. they said it was the best one they ever ate.
Then the nice man gave me my own bowl of food and a bowl of water ! I give Evita  4 paws up !
Mom and Dad sat and talked and I watched the other people who had pups with them too. One looked just like me but little and he wore a sweater. I am glad Mom does not dress me up.
We walked home  past my parks

and now  it is time for my nap. It was a good day. I like it here.  Mom and Dad do too.

A Pretty Perfect Day

Another beautiful winter day. Hopefully the rain has gone for a while now and we can get back to lots of blue skies and sunshine. Friday is Nely day. Nely is the housekeeper. We love Nely. Don't ask me how Pup feels about Nely... she and he have their own language, she jabbers some kind of Spanish baby talk to him and he becomes this floppy, happy, wiggly, hairy thing. Then he goes and hides because he knows that when Nely is here, the vacuum comes out.
So after a morning of this and that, we left Pup to the mercies of Nely and went to see a movie.
It was pretty good, it lasted too long and we had to rush to get home and tend to a hungry pup and one that needed a walk. We were slightly annoyed that the movie was so long, there was a book store and some Winter sales waiting and we had to turn our backs on them ... you know how much that hurt, don't you?

Nely was in full swing when we got home so we rescued Pup and headed out to the parks and a cafe stop.
Walking along Libertador, we noticed the parks had been freshly mowed and everywhere you look, trees had been trimmed and branches were lying in great heaps everywhere. I fear these men with saws are not that skilled in tree trimming, a few resembled broccoli and I imagine a good wind will bring some down .. but what do I know, maybe here, that is the thing to do.. I just hate seeing perfectly nice trees half nude.

There is a shop close to one of our cafes that apparently installs Bullet Proof Glass in your car. The SUV in the showroom says it all..
On past the  showroom, cafe and the Automobile Association building, which is a wonderful example of 1930's architecture.
Past the Museum of Decorative Arts
                           image-BATravelGuide.com
And on to our little cafe where we had the best Cafe con Leche and little chocolate cookies a person could ask for .. this is the cafe where the little birds eat lunch with me. This is an interesting apartment building not far from the cafe
and this is the view of the parks, from my seat in the cafe. I really like that building.
It began to get a little cold so we headed back home , going through "our" parks,
past the Highway Patrol .. I have no idea .. I never see the owner to ask.
Up the steps where General Mitre    stands guard,
with a stop at the produce market.
This is the man who is responsible for the artistic displays
And then home for some blanket time and dinner and making plans for the weekend.
All in all, a pretty perfect day.
