Yes, children, this is where I live ... this is where I am located .. right there in the middle of it all.
My mom always said I liked to be the Center of Attention ... well ... here we are again, right in the middle of it.
I am not panicked like I was last year when yet another snow storm hit .. but it did give me pause when I looked outside this am .. I knew something was up when I woke to total silence .. not even Minette was making noise!
The bottom steps have disappeared on my front porch.
The birds are hiding.
Not even deer tracks through the garden as there are every other morning ..
I feel as though I woke up in another world.
One where there is only Minette and I .. huddling with a cup of coffee and wondering how long it will take to be dug out .. will I see another human before Spring ?
Will there be a Spring ?
Will there be a Summer ??
Yes, I woke up with more questions than answers .
I am listening to music from Argentina. It only makes me more homesick.
But I will keep listening ... better than the dead silence that comes with a foot of snow.
Take care, be safe, be warm ..
Oh Candice, do take care in that white world surrounding your nest - thank goodness you and Minette are prepared for snuggling until things look better outside. I guess even the deer don't get around much in all that snow - best to be a bird I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which, we are filling our feeders almost daily now and it's expensive! We've also hung a suet feeder hoping the woodpeckers would enjoy however it's mostly a hangout for chickadees and, surprisingly, a big old robin seems to love it. Of course the squirrels eat more than the birds - Minette would have a field day watching all this activity.
Stay safe - no shoveling - just patience and the knowledge Spring will come soon I'm sure.
Hugs - Mary
Thank you Dear ! There is no way I am stepping foot out the door so no worries about the shoveling. No one can shovel this ! We have feet of snow already, past the inches stage.
ReplyDeleteMinette is hiding in the curtains at the glass doors, while the birds sit in the shrubs and watch her .. I think I will make a nest of the sofa and read the day away :) hugs to you too
