It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new.
But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful.
There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.

Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read."

Rain

If I see a big boat go by, with maybe a couple of the cattle and or the sheep or horses up the hill, I will know that it is time to pack my bag and get on that boat too.

I woke to Rain.
Hard , can't see through it Rain.

It got very dark, creepy .... it was raining when I woke up and it got darker and rained more ..  my property has little lakes all over  .. I expect to at least see a family of ducks, if an Ark doesn't come by instead.

Should I expect ducks to visit my pond ? that is an island now.
I have to buy a boat.
The fog is coming too, just in case we need more of a "creep" factor to the story.

  1. /it's raining and dark here too. Like you, I now am alone. I have no family and none of my friends live near me and I don't drive so though I live in the city, there are some limits. But, My dog and I ride the subway and today I went to a reception for an artist at my favorite local restaurant.
Tomorrow I hope the sun comes out for us.

    Fer' hevins' sake...what next?

This is not fair, throwing one hurdle after another at you when you're doing good just to get out of bed each morning.

I'm so very sorry. Please keep us posted.

  3. cigale, that is the definite UP side of living in a city rather than out in the country.
    Thank you <3

Gail, I think it stopped raining.
I am hoping it stays warm enough for it to dry rather than freeze.
    Thank you .. :)

  4. I just found your blog and love your first sentence “It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new.” I find it so true. I left Paris for San Francisco when I was in my twenties to find the new – now I take a look back at what was the familiar. Your heading picture is beautiful – love those trees. We had rain yesterday and were under a tornado watch, but today it is sunny and beautiful.

  5. Dearest, sorry I'm late here, have been under the weather and no Internet for 24 hours when the power went out in the storm! But, unlike you, I don't need a boat - the rains and terrible winds came but were over quickly thankfully.......there was quite a lot of damage around town though.

Glad to see sweet Vagabonde has 'found' you. You will love her always full and fabulous posts if you decide to visit her. Like you and I, she has experienced life as an ex-pat, and her amazing memoirs always make for wonderful reads.

    Love and hugs - Mary
