It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new.
But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful.
There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.

Beware

You know those drops you buy at the vets , to protect your cat from fleas and ticks ?
Where are the drops to protect your cat from the drops ?

Thank goodness Merlin has long hair .. and it is already coming in .. white and soft and his scar will hopefully be covered ..

He and the others will wear flea collars , they are house cats, they won't be outside .. I will never do this again to any of my cats or dogs ..

  1. My dog always paced when I put on topical flea meds. The vet thought it was the smell but I had read it could feel like BenGay on steroids. When I read your posts about this it makes me think it isn't the smell! This stuff hurts our pets. I've gone back to pill form (makes me wonder how bad that is also).
    Thanks for posting.

  2. Carrie, I am thinking of using old fashioned flea powder and brushing them more often. The others are short haired but Merlin is a Himalayan with SO much long hair ... god bless him he is so sweet and patient when you do anything to him and it breaks my heart that I caused him pain.

  3. It's so hard to know what is the right thing to do. Since your cats are indoors all the time is there an issue with fleas?

  4. Carrie , in Florida there seems to be an issue with fleas whether you have pets or not :(
Mine like to stay out on the lanai, which is a huge screened room ... some insects/fleas can get in ..
Seems it is a fact of life in Florida , insects want in ..

  5. A lot of people are into using diatomaceous earth for fleas; some put it directly on their pets (I wouldn't), but others use it around the house as a barrier to kill bugs and keep them out. And this article discusses using Boric Acid and also mentions DE...
