It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new.
But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful.
There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.

Sold

Sold.
But not actually closed. I didn't realize I had one more to go.
But anyway ... the end is in sight and the New Beginning is too.
Now I have to find a new home.
Thoughts on Florida. Buenos Aires. Probably not up here.
Wish me luck.
The kitties want to go where there is sunshine . And no dogs. And lots of birds.
I can work on 2 of those wishes.

Here I go !! ( scared to death :)

  1. Congratulations!

I am already looking forward to the next exciting instalment in the adventures of a special lady.

Be brave, take your time deciding where to live next. Rent somewhere first perhaps?

Anyway, well done, a few hiccups along the way but you have done it!

    love

  3. Almost four years after my divorce I had to sell the house I bought that I loved.
It was stay in Laguna Beach California by the Pacific Ocean that I loved and do nothing and scrimp by(the x set up the loan and it was so bad)or move to Tucson save a bunch of money and be able to take care of my children two still at university and my dogs.
I chose moving back to Tucson. My financial people knew what they were talking about, the housing bubble broke right after I sold. I got out at the right time.
I miss that house. I made it MY home and it was perfect. I walked in the door and pictured myself living there.
    le sigh.
But I am very happy here, traded the ocean for a host of wild animals and birds.
I am back in the southwest were I grew up so it feels like home.
Pretty soon where ever you move it will become home and you will be happy.

I am so sorry your husband died. You did not have a choice but now this is your life and I know you will embrace it.

I will light a candle for you
    cheers, parsnip

  6. Although you have found this whole process so distressing, all of the ups and downs, it has possibly been the right thing for you. It has, importantly, given you time, and time is a great healer on the road to your future. I sincerely hope that everything goes well for you, and that you pick somewhere to live that in your heart feels right. Good luck and my very best wishes are winging their way across the miles to you.

  7. I'm so sorry this whole process has been so stressful for you! A friend of mine has just sold her house, five years after her husband died, and she is have such difficulty with all the memories, and having to handle everything all on her own...not an easy situation, by any means :-( !

If you do move into the Jax area, I hope you'll contact me...I'd love to help with the moving in, and the settling in. It's nice to have at least a friendly face in a new place, don't you think? But best of luck wherever you DO decide to go, it's so nice to have options, but so hard to decide!

  8. Hopefully, the actual Closing is soon!

One bit of advise, check to see when you have to be out of the house. Where I live, you need to be out prior to the Closing. If not, you can be charged rent or the worst is that the buyers won't close until you're out. Your lawyer should be able to tell you.

  10. This has been quite the roller coaster ride for you and good that it has finally ended. Someone suggested that you might rent for a bit. That could be just the ticket to having the chance to explore some possibilities. I so hope that you decide on a place that is close enough to your kids and grandchildren that you will be able to get together as often as you would like. Please breath a deep sigh of relief, have a glass of wine and let your mind wander off to the vast array of new possibilities. And, above all enjoy the journey!! Best wishes for finding a fabulous new home in just the right place with a fenced yard for the perfect dog and a screened porch for the kitties!!

  14. I hope you find the perfect home...and I know that you will. It is almost as if something is telling you that this wasn't the best place for you to be. This is going to be a whole new adventure for you...and the cats of course.

  15. La Vie .. I saw photos sent to me by my daughter of some homes today that made me feel not quite so bad at all about moving. And I keep thinking that I will hopefully be able to fly to Buenos Aires much easier and less expensively from Florida.
And my BA friends have homes in Miami too so in addition to a new life etc, old friends might be a part of it.

I will just have to keep working on the baby boy and his wife and son to move down next.

  19. It has been a very traumatic experience for me but I will be stronger and more brave when it is over.
Florida doesn't sound bad when I think of the winter here. It makes me said though because where I live is breathtaking , the surroundings are so beautiful and the skies are beautiful. I will miss it very much.
But I miss BA .. that is at the top of my list of what to spend money on LOL
    Gracias amiga !
